Meet Ms. Short
I have been teaching at Montezuma for the past 18 years. This is my thirteenth year as a fourth-grade teacher. I am a mom to a very busy three-year-old, Arthur. I have lived in Albuquerque for the past 18 years. I am originally from Iowa where the humidity is high, fireflies fill the night sky, and the smell of pigs is everywhere. I love going home to visit the old life of butter churning, fresh sweet corn, and horse and buggy transportation. In my spare time I love to read young adult fiction, go camping, and travel. My most recent trip took me to New Zealand where I spent a sabbatical semester sponsored by a Fulbright Grant. I am excited to continue to try out some of the things I learned from my time in the New Zealand school system.
In my classroom I encourage parental involvement. I need your help in order to create the best educational experience for your child. I find that students who see their parents actively involved in their classroom blossom and push themselves to achieve. Kids enjoy having you join us. Please let me know if you could help out (as much as possible with the times we find ourselves in) in our classroom. Together teachers and families create a well-rounded educational experience.
I am looking forward to a year of growth and learning and getting to know all my brilliant fourth-grade students.
